Love and Hockey

Pasting and Painting!
Today was sunny and warm and a nice change from the current weather we've been having, and it was also Valentine's Day. We decided to make our valentines and head straight outside. On our way to the playground we passed by Mrs. E, who was leading a class back from gym and happened to be carrying some hockey sticks. I thought the girls might enjoy playing with them, and I was right! They had so much fun running around and passing the ball (our puck) back and forth. Who knows, Maybe there is a future VA hockey team in the making!

Great co-ordination ladies!

Feed the Birds

Today was a glorious and sunny winter day. First, we colored pictures of a red cardinal and glued bright red feathers on for a 3D effect. Then we headed outside with a jar of peanut butter, a bowl of birdseed, and a basket for collecting. We found a variety of acorns in all shapes and sizes and put them in our basket. Then, we found a nice sunny spot in the yard and got to work.

What are we going to do today?

Everybody grabbed a spoon and we covered our acorns with peanut butter, and then we smothered them with birdseed by dipping them in the bowl.

Covering the acorns with peanut butter.

Everyone waiting their turn to dip.

Spooning up some seeds.

Talking about which types of birds will visit our feeders.

Making sure there are lots of seeds.

Preparing to hang our creations.

Throwing the rest to the birds.

A red cardinal. A bird that may visit our feeders!

Foamy Snow Men

Today we painted snowmen. Not just any snowmen, though. We made our paint from equal parts shaving cream and white glue. I drew the snowmen on the page and the girls glued on hats, noses, and, as always, googly eyes. Then the girls used the puffy paint to make the snow. Kind of messy, lots of fun!

Sticker Fun!

Today, we used some simple templates, and packs of stickers to create some holiday art. We mixed and matched the stickers, and templates and the girls had a wonderful time helping each other out.

Tree Decorating

Today we finished our ornaments by bringing out the paint and glitter. We made them last week using a salt dough recipe and painted them today since they were finally dry.

When the girls came into class I had a bunch of green triangles in different sizes on the table and the girls created wacky christmas trees on red paper. They used colored scraps to decorate them.

Googl-y eyes make everything better.
